Priests revisited....

A busy week has passed yet again with the finishing work being completed on the priests. The cork rings have been joined, glued and shaped and the cane has been split and formed into the shaft. This has taken a few days of hard work but at least we have something resembling  an item of fishing  equipment!

This is the handle of a priest which is being made for a Canadian customer:

 This photograph shows the brass butt cap:

In the background is a Priest being made for a local fisherman. It has just had its  first (of about five) coat of varnish. If you look closely you can see the cork handle is wrapped with plastic to prevent the cork becoming dirty or scarred  through our handling during manufacture.

This one was requested with red whipping, with a wrap of black at the end.

All that now needs doing to them is complete the whipping and varnishing, polish and then place into one of our handmade bags, before being shipped to its new owner. Next installment I will post pictures of the cane being split and planed.
